Matthew Murph und Tord Øverland der Band The Wombats nahmen sich vor ihrem Konzert im ausverkauften Abart Music Club die Zeit, ein paar Fragen von Students.ch zu beantworten.

Students.ch: Hey, there - how are you? I have just seen that you`re touring with a new bus. Now you`ve got your beds with you.
Tord: Yeah, your right. Last time we had this golden van. It`s more comfortable to be in the bus, definitetly. You get more sleep, so it`s easier to tour.

So, you had a lot of success in the last few months. And now you`re able to tour with a bus instead of a van. Are you happy about the success?
Matthew: Yes, it`s great, especially since we`re doing well in the UK and now slowly picking up in Europe.

Just slowly, I think it seems to be pretty fast. Last year the European Bars, this spring the clubs and in the summer the festivals. Is there a hype about the Wombats?
Tord: For us it is steady. It`s not gone to fast, but it`s still not to slow either. I think it`s healthy.
Matthew: I don`t know where we are. We`re just in little backstage rooms like this one and drinking. We`re not seeing much directly of the hype.
Tord: We`re in the Wombatsbubble. We play the shows and yeah, we know when the show is sold out. We`re just focusing to make as good shows as possible.

You`re gonna play the Royal Albert Hall in London, which is a very special venue. Have you ever been there before?
Matthew: No, just seen it on telly. It`s gonna be slightly different than normal things.

You`ve attended the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. Is it wrong to say that you`ve been taught there how to write and play all these catchy tunes?
Matthew: Ahh wrong..?? Ah, Yes.
Tord: Yes, very wrong.

So, where do all these tunes come from?
Matthew: I guess real live experiences is where the lyrics come from and the music is from the goads.
Tord: It`s talent. Pure talent.

What about the next album? Any ideas already? Any recording?
Matthew: We`ll play a new song in our set. And I have a couple of ideas and some songs we should work on. At this moment it `s just the tour until we die.
Tord: It`s pretty hectic, we`ve been on tour since the last year and half. We didn`t had time to write stuff on tour.
Matthew: By December/January we`ll hopefully have the material and start looking at it.

There is another tour announced for Europe in autumn. Sure you will play in Switzerland in a bigger venue?!
Matthew (smiles to his tourmanager): I would have thought so. Yes.

What about football? What about FC Liverpool? What about Euro 2008?
Tord: We don`t really have time to follow football and we`re not Liverpool fans. I used to be an ManU Fan ... aaahh I`m still a fan of Manchester United.

What about your band name? How did you get it?
Matthew: We had this friend; he was a kind of dancer. His nickname was Wombat - so we used his name and started each other calling Wombat. Everyone became a Wombat; basically humanity became Wombat. And as we are human beings we became The Wombats.

Last question. Who do you prefer? Amy or Duffy?
Matthew: I saw Duffy`s Video last night on MTV, I liked it actually, but it`s a kind of boring. Amy Winehouse is cooler, isn`t she?
Tord: I think Duffy is fitter… but Amy is really cool.

Thanks for interview.
Matthew: A pleasure.
Tord: Thanks to you as well.
